BMW has just introduced the first SUV to wear its bold new class design language, and it is nothing like the X3 you know. The purely electric BMW IX3 arrives with a futuristic look from the inside and outside, the innovative technology and performance that corresponds to the gas -powered siblings. From slim vertical headlights and hidden door handles to panoramic interior and the next generation battery technology, it is an insight into the future of BMW. This is what it looks like next to the X3 that you have already met.
Outer design

The IX3 is completely fresh as the first BMW vehicle that hugs the new new class design language. Although the two shared a type of type, apart from general dimensions, they have almost nothing from a design perspective. While the IX3 is a little longer and shorter than the G45, there are few real differences. On the front of the vertically oriented headlights and the radiator grille of the IX3 almost the design language of the G45, which favors a horizontal orientation. Before back there is no mistake with the other. The vertical orientation is again an issue here, and looking at the taillights is an immediate giveaway. A completely new diffuser and a lack of exhaust connections are two more obvious clues. From the side, the two see relatives as from any other perspective. Although the hidden door handles and headlights of the IX3 discard and lower headlights are still easy to see.
Interior design

If you thought that the IX3 looked different from the G45 BMW X3 outside, wait until you make an effort! The cockpit has the new class interior with panoramic views display, new middle screen and even fewer buttons than before. The materials look much more modern, and the overall design seems much more coherent in IX3 than in the G45 X3. The best comparison to drawing is the IX; It is as if the IX was buried in the interior of the X3 and came something that looks extremely better than both. It is difficult to tell on the press photos, but new seats should make a lot of heavy lifting for long drives for comfort.
Performance

The dual electro engines of the BMW IX3 50 XDrive produce 345 kW/469 PS and 645 NM (475 LB-FT) torque. As a result, the electrical IX3 can accelerate from zero to 62 km / h (100 kmh) in 4.9 seconds. Shocking this means that the X3 M50, the fastest version of the gas-powered G45 BMW X3, can feel the IX3 a little chopped off in a drag race. BMW says that the same sprint only lasts 4.4 seconds for the Gasser. Of course, this is probably not the top variant that we will see from the IX3. But at the moment you have to give the G45 props. Interestingly, the IX3 49:51 leads weight distribution at the front/back.
technology

As you can imagine, it is hardly a tight race when we come to the technology. With IDRIVE X, the new class update for iDrive, the IX3 can do everything the G45 BMW X3 and more can do. The panorama display adds a completely new measure of adaptation and driver connectivity. Elsewhere, the end of the IDRIVE controller drives the room in the cabin. That means nothing about the wild new battery technology that IX3 swirls. New gene6 batteries offer increased energy density, faster loading and many other advantages. Then there is the heart of the Joy hardware, which serves as a brain of the car and pulls everything together. Oh, and driver aid functions that you cannot yet get into the G45, such as the City Assistant, can take traffic signals into account and drive accordingly.
Overall, the IX3 is what we expected: a complete quantum leap from the old way of thinking for BMW forward. His new appearance and technical skills seem to surpass everything the G45 BMW X3 is capable of. While the performance is initially a separate conversation, we expect this to change sooner than later. In total? The first new class SUV delivers. Great time.
