BMW chose one of the most prestigious backdrops of Munich to present its first NEE class production model. Max-Joseph STZ, home of the Bavarian State Opera, was transformed into an open-air phase in which the new 2026 BMW IX3 50 XDrive focus. The installation, part of BMW’s “Open Space”, was designed with the help of design works and historical architecture was merged with futuristic automotive design. Under the changing light and the weather of the late summer in Munich, the IX3 was presented in two outstanding surfaces – silver and oceans wave blue – in a photo gallery that emphasizes the clean surfaces and bold proportions of the crossovers.
The setting underlined BMW’s ambition for the new class. The reduced, more timeless design language, which was introduced by the new class platform, was fully equipped, with new retractable door handles, smoother surfaces and an illuminated interpretation of the kidney grille. In room silver, the sharp folds and shaped lines reflected the classic facades of the square, while the sea blue gives the car a more emotional character and postponed the sound depending on the sun’s angle or the artificial lighting used in the installation.
Silver and Occidan Serve Blue Highlight New Class Design

The IX3 has a diversified new color palette. As the first new class production model from BMW, it is a generation jump in technology and design jump. It drives on the sixth generation of the BMW edrive system and contains cylindrical cell batteries with a significantly higher energy density. In the IX3 50 XDRIVE, a 108 kWh-usable battery is combined with dual engines for a combined output of around 463 hp and 645 Newton meters of torque. This is enough to start the SUV in less than five seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. The range is also impressive: BMW quotes up to 805 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, whereby the USEPA figures are expected to settle around 400 miles. The charging is treated by an 800-volt system that supports up to 400 kW input and can fill up the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes.
In the cabin: panoramic view and digital minimalism

Inside, the new class philosophy is just as radical. The cabin is dominated by a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, which is facing the driver, accompanied by BMW’s new Panorama display, which extends the lower windshield from column to column. Information can be distributed via the width of the glass, which enables the driver to access navigation, speed and assistance systems quickly, while passengers can interact with entertainment and connected functions. Physical controls have not disappeared completely, but BMW has redesigned it: shy keys only illuminate if the center console retains a saddle.
New colors come later

Color and trim options play a major role in the design of the new IX3 character. In addition to Space Silver and Ocean Wave Blue, buyers have access to alpine white, sapphire black, polarized gray and M Brooklyn Gray when starting. Fire Red, called Vegas Red in the USA, will join the line -up in spring 2026. There is also a frozen gray color that we saw behind the scenes, and it’s fantastic. The photos taken in Munich also show the IX3 with the optional M sports package, which brings a more aggressive diffuser.
The production of the new IX3 begins in November in the new work of BMW in Debrecen, Hungary, the first institution of the company, which was built especially for new class vehicles. Deliveries in Europe will begin in spring 2026, followed by the US market in summer. China will also receive a long -wheel variant that was created locally (Codename NA6), which reflects the global ambitions of the model.
