Not to go long until BMW finally reveals the second generation IX3. Some tests are still in progress, as new spy shots from Amsterdam prove. The electrical crossover is still camouflaged and hides its production authority under familiar wraps. However, an interesting detail stands up: The “NA5” will introduce a new bike design that differs from the alloys that were shown during the 105th general meeting when a prototype was brought to the stage.
Both bikes have a striped design, but these new ones have a significantly more space between the spokes. Nevertheless, the former sentence might have had removable aero cover. Who knows, maybe these new bikes also support plastic plates that you can stand out, and BMW simply did not install them for testing. We hope that the sportier bikes of new class X Concept are also planned for production, which may be reserved for an M -Performance version such as the rumored IX3 M60.
When we spoke to Auto Shanghai at Auto Shanghai last month with the BMW Group manager of the Adrian van Hooydonk design, he told us that new class would also bring new paintings. We probably have to wait until the beginning of September when the IX3 debuts the fresh colors at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Even without these additional adaptation options, the EV will essentially distinguish the next generation from the outgoing model.

The future IX3 will obviously also take on a new design identity for camouflage. The cleaner, smoother surfaces that are promised for the new class era, including combustion cars, will appear in the list. An interior overhaul is also underway, with reduced conventional controls and a stronger emphasis on the touchscreen interaction. BMW has already removed the IDRIVE controller from Compact models and does not install it in a new class.
While design changes are subjective, the technical improvements are clear. BMW changes to gene6 batteries with round cells that offer 20% higher energy density. Compared to the current prismatic cells, these cylindrical units calculate 30% faster and provide a change of area by 30%. All NEE class EVS offer at least 600 kilometers of range, some reach 900 kilometers on a single load. In the case of IX3, BMW has already confirmed that it fails over 435 miles (700 km). These numbers are based on the WLTP cycle, so that the equivalent EPA estimates are probably 10–15% lower.
The new BMW IX3 will be sold later this year after production began in Debrecen, Hungary. However, the electrical frequency of frequency will only start later in 2026 outside of Europe.
