It is completely understandable why you may not be enthusiastic about the new IX3. After all, an electric crossover in an already overcrowded segment does not seem to be a big deal. However, the “Na5” is more than just a successor to the “G08”. It is a completely new vehicle with the next generation batteries, electric motors, infotainment technology and design. BMW has legitimate reasons to adopt the second generation model in view of its importance.
The IX3 will be undergoing final tests until the world premiere in September at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Prototypes of local production were spent on the Nürburgring for miles and still hid the new design language. The fresh look is not just a change for changes. When the vision of new class X concept was unveiled last year, BMW mentioned a 20% air reduction to improve efficiency thanks to the more smooth body. Overall, it will be 25% more economical than the outgoing IX3 if EV-specific new brakes and tailor-made tires are used.

We hear that the initial version, which is called IX3 50 XDrive, is more than the Clar-based model. Why? It is somewhat larger and has a 107.9 kWh battery compared to the 74 kW pack of the predecessor.

It has already been teased and even wears a separate chassis code: “Na6”. The more spacious electric SUV is built in China, probably only for the local market.
