We have been talking about it for years and now it’s finally there. The new BMW M2 CS has just landed, and almost everything we had hoped is. “Almost” because BMW does not give them the choice between a manual and an automatic, as was the case with the previous F87 generation. Instead, the G87 comes exclusively with an eight-speed steptronic transmission. Apart from that, the smallest member of the competition sports set up the right box.
Our time with the new M2 CS in the 2025 Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este focused on this example of Brooklyn Gray. If a current leak has a hint and we have good reasons, other colors are also available. BMW offers the sports coupé in Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue and Velvet Blue. The latter will be an individual option that is a bonus of 3,600 US dollars in the United States.
Brooklyn Gray bravely fits golden bronze wheels, a staggered 19-inch front / 20-inch rear set with the code name “827m”. These alloys have been available for a while and are equipped with 275/35 ZR19 -Vorter- and 285/30 ZR20 rear tires. In view of the special stay of the car, a carbon roof and a carbon side of the side mirror are standard.

The most obvious change compared to the regular M2 is at the back, where BMW installs a surprisingly large duck tail spoiler. To be honest, it is much larger than we expected. Although we tested many prototypes in the Nürburgring, the Camouflage hidden the complete scale of this design element inspired by CSL. The designers integrated the chunky spoiler into a carbon fiber trunk (carbon-reinforced plastic).
Another unexpected detail is displayed at the front: The M2 CS is missing the yellow day running light. They have the M3 CS sedan and Touring, as well as the M4 CS and the Hardcore M4 CSL. But absent here. If you want to have these distinctive laser declines, go to the M4 CS because the smaller siblings maintain the standard -rear cluster. The new M -Auto is angry around the badge that are located along the side thresholds and the entire interior.
This brings us into the cabin that used generously carbon fiber. The body -hugging front bucket seats are standard. You still get back seats because weight loss is not as extreme as for a CSL. BMW has created an M2-CSL based on the previous generation model, but only as a unique prototype.
Although BMW has not numbered the M2 CS individually, it will still be a less common sight. The production figures are unknown, but our sources say that no more than 2,000 units in the San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico roll the line from the line. If exactly that, this would be a little more exclusive than its German predecessor, of which 2,200 units were produced.
We have to wait a little longer for the complete technical specifications, although yesterday’s main leak leaves little to the imagination …
