2026 BMW M2 CS design with Ducktail Spoiler unveiled

After a short teaser campaign, but a long series of spy photos, the new M2 CS is finally official. Well, that’s only half true. BMW shows the design of the car and lets us wait a little longer for the technical specifications. This is not a big problem because extensive details appeared in a massive leak at the beginning of this week. The specifications are basically an open book. So let’s concentrate on the design.

This M2 -CS in Brooklyn Gray looks the same as expected, minus the during the day. They are white instead of yellow and let us ask why Race car-inspired DRLs are missing. Until BMW will answer our request later this weekend, we have to talk about a much more striking change: the duck tail spoiler. It immediately distinguishes the CS from the regular G87. Hot setting: It is only a smidge larger than necessary. Nevertheless, it creates a visual connection between the M2 -CS and special models from the past.

While the appearance of the car is predictable, it makes it no less exciting. The tuners don’t take long to develop mods that replicate the Ducktail spoiler. A new M car, even a derivative of an existing model, always triggers creativity in the Aftermarket scene. If you think about it, the CS itself is really just an M2 with an internal coordination.

As a rule, special expenses only have limited adaptation options, but BMW still finds opportunities to calculate more money. For example, the rumored blue metallic color including 3,500 US dollars costs. Add carbon ceramic brakes and you will see a surcharge of $ 8,500. These add-ons push the M2 CS into a six-digit area. But really, what are a few extra thousand dollars if the basic price is already $ 100,000? It becomes even more expensive in Europe, where VAT (VAT) dramatically increases the final price of a car.

Is the CS the ultimate G87? Not quite. We have a good reason to assume that an XDRIVE version will come next year. The second generation M2 still has a few years of life and gives BMW enough time to increase the bar even higher. We can only dream of a full-blown M2-CSL, although there are precedent. M-engineers secretly based a prototype on F87 a few years ago, but it never achieved production. Could it happen this time? It is too early to say, but we are confident that BMW did not fully use the potential of the G87.

The M2 CS will debut this weekend at the 2025 Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este next to a special M car. While it does not bear the “most powerful letters in the world”, the breathtaking speedtop is also shown as a shooting brake based on the M8. BMW reveals the concept here, but a production run with 70 units is planned.
