The F95 X5 M debut in 2019 and is still more on it today, since a great refreshment in 2024, largely unchanged. But that’s okay for us because the Super SUV has only gotten better over time, receives an excellent mild hybrid system and leads proud of the S68 Twin Turbo V8 TORCH. Our X5 m facelift check showed only a few weaknesses and overall excellent performance. We don’t expect anything that changes for the 2026 BMW X5 m. Regardless of a significant increase in price, the 2026 BMW X5 M competition continues to defy physics and stand out in a niche but pretty cool segment.
2026 BMW X5 m competitive engine, gearbox and performance
The drive train of the X5 m is unchanged compared to the one that we know and love from the model of last year’s model. The S68 V8 thus supplies all four bikes via M XDRIVE and a ZF sourcing automatic transmission. BMW evaluates the X5 m at 617 hp and 553 pound foot torque, and the SUV can absorb a pass from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds (probably less, but we didn’t try it). As with all contemporary M-cars, the X5 m makes it easier to switch between stored driver modes, which ranges from out on the outside raving (sports+) to Fast Pedestrian. Even in the least aggressive drive modes, the 2026 BMW X5 M competition is a complete performance monster, which is even likely to satisfy hardcore speed -demons.

The X5 -M competition of last year put on the figures of the fuel consumption models, which, as we say, were competitive in class, but otherwise may be missing. But what did you expect with this powerful V8 under the bonnet? The figures for fuel consumption will remain almost unchanged. That means 13 MPG City and 18 MPG Highway for 15 MPG. It is also unchanged compared to the curb models (2022 and earlier), but what can you do? AMGS GLE63 only manages one MPG in each category. Porsche’s Cayenne Turbo GT – much higher – achieves a little better and manages 15 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway for a combined 17 mpg. Overall, fuel consumption in this segment should not be treated as a priority.
Indoor and cargo space
The 2026 BMW X5 M competition enjoys a well -known interior layout and has a curved display on the dashboard, which he came back in his 2024 -Midcycle refreshment. It is mainly a regular X5 cabin, but special seats, a larger equipment selector, a red start button and the practical M1 and M2 Drive mode keys give it a little of the M theater that you are likely to seek when you read this. The quality and the materials in the X5 m competition are dated in layout, some of the updated models (such as the X3) are largely overlooked. So, absolutely no complaints from us here. The rear seats are comfortable for three adults average, but the larger X7 will probably fit better if they plan to transport four (or more) passengers. Full merino leather is available for charging of 3,500 US dollars. It adds leather on the dashboard, the lower center console and over the door. When it comes to cargo hold, the 2026 BMW X5 m competition will hold. Mercedes-AMGS GLE63 advertises with two additional cubic feet. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is only available in “Coupé” shape and therefore falls 20 cubic feet with 52.5 cubic feet. Mostly the same story for the similar Audi RS Q8. The 2026 BMW X5 M competition advertises with them with 72.3 cubic feet loading space with the seats and 33.9 cubic feet.

Idrive 8.5 provides the measuring devices and the middle screen and probably does not need an introduction. A 14.9-inch center display and a 12.3-inch driver cluster set all the information you need directly on the fingertips or in front of you. Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, integrated navigation, voice commands and MyBMW app compatibility. In the standard, competitors of Porsche and Audi offer a little fewer functions, and the GLS from Mercedes-AMG largely offers the same functionality.
Security and driver aid functions
Everything you normally get on the X5 is standard with the 2026 BMW X5 m competition. Frontal collision warning, active detection of blind spot and warning of lane warding are all standards that cover the basics. An emergency call system and an surround view cameras are also standard tariff. Really, the only functions to support drivers that you may want to add are the professional package of 1,700 US dollars. It adds the traffic jam assistant and the specialist assistant professional, which allegedly enables the X5 M to control yourself under the traffic conditions for stop-and-go.

The X5 M60i begins at 92,025 US dollars and is 80% of the way there. However, we still think that the full HOG M is worth it.
