The IX3 premiere in September will initiate a new design language for the revived new class -era from BMW. We have already learned that these new styling information will influence existing models such as the 5 Series/M5. However, it remains unclear whether the larger 7 -series series will also take over the cleaner, smoother look that BMW has been striving for for some time. A fully disguised prototype of the G70 was recently discovered in the Mont Ventoux region in southern France. It seems to be a standard petrol or diesel 7 series, since an i7 would wear an “e” on the German license plate. In view of the lack of a loading connection on the front fender, it is also unlikely that it is a plug-in hybrid.
Facelifts, BMW or in other ways, do not usually change the side profile of a car, apart from new wheels or colors. The life cycle impulse in Munich’s marketing jargon will instead concentrate on revisions from the front and back. We suspect that this 7 Series had temporary headlights and taillights. Although the separate, upper daily runs are missing, BMW may be out.

Early prototypes of the Pre Facelift 7 Series also seemed to show one-piece headlights, although we all know how the final production version has developed. The fact that these preliminary lights are so low indicates that the revised model maintains the unusual split headlights. This was also our impression when the second generation X7 was recently discovered. In addition to the upcoming 2026 XM, it seems that BMW will continue the largest vehicles with this unconventional lighting layout. Nevertheless, we won’t know exactly until the camouflage gives.
As for the kidneys, the radiator grille doesn’t seem to shrink, right? In the back area, BMW hid the most rear light elements under the camouflaged trunk. The production lights will undoubtedly be much wider than what is currently visible. Overall, external updates will probably be evolutionary, but the interior promises to be more revolutionary.

Although the model with the next generation is not a model of the next generation, iDrive X will take on. It is accompanied by what BMW Panorama vision calls, a forecast display at the base of the windshield. This system is contained nine tiles: three visual line defined in the driver’s line to replace the digital instrument cluster, and six customizable sections on the right, which can be adjusted via the infotainment system.
BMW has presented this technology in the new class X vision and is planning to present the final version of the IAA Mobility Show in Munich in less than four months on the IAA mobility show at the next generation.
BMW could start the 7 Series LCI production in July 2026 and place its official debut in about a year. Shortly afterwards, three models with Alpina-Baded follow under an internal code name “G72”. One is based on the i7 that marks Alpina’s first electric vehicle. Although it was only three years ago, the Niche luxury brand said that its customers were not interested in EVS. Why the change? Even a low volume brand has to comply with stricter emission regulations. Therefore there will also be an Alpina IX7.
