When BMW introduced the M4 CSL in the Netherlands, we were amazed at the exorbitant price. The limited edition super coupé cost 215,243 euros when sales started in May 2022. At that time, the Competition Sport Lightweight had an incredible surcharge of almost 88,000 euros compared to a basic M4 (G82).
However, BMW wasn’t solely responsible for the eye-catching sticker. With a 21% VAT and high taxes on high-emitting vehicles, the Netherlands would never have been a friendly market for the M4 CSL. Fast forward to December 2025, and one is now available for “just” €87,500. There’s just one catch: it was an accident.
This M4 CSL in Sapphire Black Metallic, first registered in September 2022, only traveled 10,606 kilometers (6,590 miles) before the accident. Even if the engine is still running, the car urgently needs care. A large portion of the front bumper and a headlight are missing and both the dented hood and fender need to be replaced.

The damage is so severe that the exposed carbon fiber fabric of the hood is clearly visible. In the name of saving weight, BMW also used carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the roof and trunk lid. Luckily these remain intact. Elsewhere the car sustained damage to the front wheel and driver’s side suspension, although the listing states it remains drivable.
This was clearly not a minor impact. The front airbags deploy and the left seat belt tensioner needs to be replaced. According to Dutch magazine AutoblogThe M4 CSL crashed into a tree in the province of Brabant at the beginning of October. Fortunately, the driver escaped uninjured.
Although the asking price is hardly a bargain and the repair costs will be significant, this M4 CSL probably deserves a second chance. For comparison, you could get a new M440i for 87,500 euros in the Netherlands, assuming you can convince a dealer to lower the price from the original price of 94,450 euros.
Anyone tempted by the damaged CSL should examine the numbers carefully. Clean, accident-free examples with low mileage are currently listed on Mobile.de for just under €120,000.
