BMW could introduce a new wheel locking screw to prevent thieves

If there is a constant in the BMW world, then changes are constantly taking place. Regardless of whether it is a new color, a equipment volume, an additional model or an additional model, Bavaria never rests. But here is something that we had not necessarily expected to hear: Sources near Munich told us that future models could get different cycling bars with wheels. We were told that it is not a change, for the sake of changes.

BMW aims to stop bike thieves by equipping cars with a “specially shaped” locking screws that can only remove a dedicated tool supported with car manufacturer. This would offer greater protection against wheel theft, at least until thieves replicate the tools and resume their misconduct.

It is unclear which models will be the first. However, we know that the next product wave will arrive next year. The 3 Series (G50), I3 (NA0) and X5 (G65) are all due in 2026. BMW also gives the flagship 7-Serie-A facelifting facelifting. In the meantime, the second generation IX3 will debut in September, but deliveries will probably start until the beginning of next year.

The current wheel base locks are available in the BMW original accessories catalog and are a four-piece set with a master key and a code card. You would like to keep the latter in a safe place because the recovering of the master key requires this code. As shown in the tutorial video above, there are the existing elements in two sizes.

New locking screws would not be the first update related to the bike that we have recently talked about. The ultra-serving 3.0-CSL introduced center-lock bikes, a function that later becomes an optional upgrade for M2, M3 and M4 via the M-Performance parts catalog. BMW sells the 19-inch front and 20-inch wheels in Jet Black at a steep price. Factor of the bikes, hubs, the necessary tools and the installation costs, and they spend 20,000 US dollars.

If the 3.0 CSL If BMW was introduced with its striking gold gears a few years ago, BMW explained that The 930 Nm torque applied during the assembly process of the middle castle was the highest of a production vehicle in the group.
