About a week ago, the news of a Mercedes BMW alliance in the second half of the decade may have launched a fleet of BMW Benz models. The sealing of a deal – which still seems to be far away – could mean a big victory for Mercedes. Since Euro 7 compliance knocks on the German car manufacturer door, Mercedes was found without an engine that works in plug-in hybrid capacity. At least one thing that does not come from China Geely. This is partly due to Mercedes’ individual focus on electrification in recent years. The 2.0-liter B48 engine from BMW is the perfect problem bypass, so that Mercedes gives access to a proven engine with zero-F & e-costs. These are some serious suggestions. But BMW could still be the bigger winner if the deal goes through.
The look of BMW engines competes Mercedes models
If you are BMW, you have to love what it looks like. The BMW Mercedes rivality almost needs to be an introduction to someone who reads this. A Bavarian power plant under the bonnet of a Mercedes is probably as close as the car manufacturer to “win” the fight. BMW wins a larger marketing war – thanks to headlines like this – and even with everyone when a Mercedes owner bangs the hood. On the other hand, it is unlikely that these engines would find themselves in the way under the bonnet of the real “enthusiast” benz models. So maybe take metaphorically with the bit “The Hood”.
BMW also wins “real”. This means that the sale of tens of thousands more B48 engines than they would otherwise sell. BMW has the capacity in the Steyr system to produce and provide Mercedes 2.0-liter. The complete use of Steyr achieves a better return for the dollar from BMW. Then of course there is also the amount that Mercedes pays per engine. It is a clear victory for BMW.
Potential victories for Mercedes
If it were anyone except Mercedes, it wouldn’t matter. BMW already offers engines for a variety of other brands, including Land Rover, Toyota and Morgan. Although it is a big deal for enthusiasts and maybe a handful of customers, most customers do not know the engine exchange. Even a part that is well read enough to know it will probably not make up, and recognize that BMW produces a high -quality engine or that it is simply the condition of the automotive industry today. There is also the border facility that Mercedes makes a better BMW than BMW. The drive train is half the equation and essentially enables you to start the second basis with a great start.
We believe that BMW is progressing in this business. They are all the best news for a brand that already gets a lot of positive praise today. In the meantime, Mercedes sees poorly prepared for the future and has to pour out some money to stay competitive. Hey, it is still a better look than using Geely engines.
