Not to go long until the new IX3 finally breaks the cover. BMW will be facilitated with a fresh teaser image in front of the second generation Electric SUV next week. Instead of camouflage, most design details hide shade. Nevertheless, the preview shows the lighting signature of Bayern’s model -Y -rival.
As expected, the front fascia reflects the new class X concept vision last year. The IX3 ready to produce retains the vertical alignment of the radiator grille, which is reserved exclusively for SUVs. Limousins and possibly other body styles will apply wider kidneys, as the concept of 2023 NEE class limousine previews.
The radiator grille has an illuminated contour that resembles the concept and the current BMW models. Interestingly, the closed kidneys contain more LED elements than the concept, while the slim headlights are almost identical to those of the vision NEE class. Elsewhere, the hood is taking a middle break that proudly bears the legendary round.
The clearest sign that this is more of the production model than the concept lies in the conventional side mirrors and replaces the cameras of NEE class X. It remains to be seen whether BMW next cameras will be offered because they are already legal in certain markets. In addition to legality, cameras offer considerable aerodynamic improvements compared to bulky mirrors that disturb the air flow.
The version, which is annoyed here, is the IX3 50 XDrive, which promises 400 miles (644 kilometers) in the EPA test cycle and 800 kilometers (497 miles) on WLTP. BMW will bring a long -bike variant for China with 900 kilometers (559 miles) range per CLTC on the market next year.
BMW will probably later expand the list with a one-engine variant with rear wheel drive, while reports already indicate M-performance and even MAD derivatives. Regardless of the cladding, all IX3S round cell batteries of the sixth generation will have new electric motors.
Cod name “Na5”, the IX3, heralds in the era of the new class and is built in the new BMW work in Hungary. In 2026, an i3 sedan will be accompanied in Munich. The groundbreaking technology developed for these models not exclusively for EVS. For example, trolleys will also take over IDRIVE X with panoramic view vision and everything.
It is difficult to remember a more decisive moment in the modern history of BMW. The IX3 marks the real beginning of a new era that is underpinned by the company’s largest individual investment so far.
