BMW Global Sales has dropped in the first half of 2025, but M has risen

The sales results of the BMW are bitter. On the one hand, the total deliveries were 2.3% lower and fell to 1,070,814 cars. On the other hand, the demand for M-models continues to increase and 100,000 vehicles are exceeded in an interval of six months in an interval of six months. As a refreshment, the German luxury brand bundles sales with full M cars with that of M performance models. M 105,939 units sent by June, which corresponds to an increase of 6.5% compared to the first half of 2024.

Part of the success of M is due to the “strong popularity” of the M5 models. BMW claims that the G90 sedan and the G99 car have made “important contributions” to increase demand. While the sales figures for the dynamic duo are not provided, we know that the long roof model proves to be more popular than projected. Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President of Customers, Brand and Sales at BMW M, recently told us that Touring production has increased to a strong demand. Production is now evenly divided between the two body styles.

BMW does not mention the i4 M50 in its sales report. However, we will remind you that it has been the best-selling product of the M division for three consecutive years. Speaking of EVs, we hear that the M -Performance line -up 2026 is expanded with a full electrical IX3 M60 XDrive. An equivalent limousine, reported reported as I3 M60 XDrive, is planned for 2027. A complete version of the limousine has already been officially confirmed and is expected later in this decade.

Although the total turnover from BMW until June goes back slightly, demand in all regions with the exception of China rose. In addition, plug-in hybrids rose by 28.9% to 98,339 cars that combine a gas engine with an electric motor. Including Reiner EVS, the demand for electrified vehicles rose by 6.5% to 272,402 cars. These numbers exclude electrical models sold by the mini and Rolls-Royce subsidiaries.

BMW remains conveniently in front of its arch-rival Mercedes-Benz, which only sold 900,000 cars between January and June, which was increased by 6% compared to the same period last year. Once again, after sending 783,500 vehicles, Audi has to be satisfied with the last place on the podium, a decline of 5.9% compared to January to June 2024.
