Mini went through a difficult patch. In 2024, the brand sold only 244,915 cars, a transition year that was characterized by a complete revision of its line -up. But after a steep decline of 17.1% last year, 2025 had a promising start. The results of the half -year are in the half -year results and encouraging: the programs rose by 17.3% to 133,778 cars, which is due to a strong second quarter than the demand rose by 33.1% to 69,163 vehicles.
The car manufacturer based in Oxford attributes the upswing of the long -awaited complete availability of its revised portfolio. The parent company BMW Group says that Mini has growth in every region. Yes, this even includes China’s hard -fought. In particular, over a third of the cars that were sold worldwide were purely electric. So that we don’t forget, there are now even electric John Cooper Works models, but no cars with a manual transmission. It shows how much mini has changed in recent years.

Mini had also intended to further expand his line -up with a full electrical convertible. However, this model, which is known internally as “J03”, was reportedly brought to the queue. As for EVS, the three -door assembly line (“J01”) and the Aceman Crossover (“J05”) were planned for British production from 2026, but these plans were scrapped. For the time being, both models will continue to be built exclusively in China by Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between BMW Group and Great Wall Motor.
Despite the EV printing, Mini does not give up its combustion engines. The goal of only becoming an EV brand by 2030 has dropped, which means that petrol cars will remain nearby until the next decade. What is still missing in the area is a real entry -level model. However, a City car in the Raketman style is not in the cards.
That means the future looks promising. BMW has confirmed that its new class EVs will all be in the background or all-wheel drive. This next generation architecture will probably also go back to Mini. With two and two compiled, the rear wheel drive could arrive until the end of the decade.
