BMW Group Conference Live from Auto Shanghai 2025

This concept for radical vision driving experience is the heart of the BMW Group at Auto Shanghai this year, but further announcements are expected during the event. Press conferences often contain important strategic updates, although it is to be seen whether BMW’s latest plans apply exclusively to the Chinese market or are globally.

So far we know that the vision, the NEE class and vision -Nee class X concepts are also presented. BMW reveals a Chinese-specific version of IDRIVE X, the next generation brand’s information system. Of course, the VDX will also be present, complete with its self -calm color and five underbody fans, which even if the car does not move.

With regard to the future, the new class lineup will include in China-exclusive models that are designed locally in the design works studio of BMW in Shanghai. It remains to be seen whether BMW will share further details about these upcoming vehicles during today’s press conference. Reports indicate that at least two long -wheel variants are planned on the basis of the i3 and IX3, which are specially tailored to the Chinese market.

The production of new class vehicles in China will begin in 2026 under BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA). To support this, BBA invests around 1.42 billion US dollars in a new battery system in which around 2,000 people are employed. It is worth noting that BMW increased its share of BBA to 75% in early 2022.

Mini continues to play a crucial role in China for the BMW group, which a joint venture operates with a large wall engine. The JV is known as a Spotlight Automotive and is responsible for the production of the full of Mini Cooper Schrägheck (J01) and the Aceman Crossover (J05) in a new facility in Zhangjiagen. We have to see whether the press conference also brings updates for the local operation of Mini.
