The BMW Group had a bittersweet 2025. On the one hand, sales of the core brand BMW and Rolls-Royce suffered a slight setback compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the last 12 months have been excellent for MINI. So much so that it more than offset the decline of the other two brands.
Cumulative deliveries reached 2,463,715 units at the end of the year, up 0.5% compared to 2024. Demand for BMW models fell 1.4% to 2,169,761 units, although the M subdivision grew 3.3% to 213,457 cars. Rolls-Royce has never been about volume, but we’re sure the folks at Goodwood aren’t happy about a 0.8% drop to 5,664 units.
The real star of the BMW Group was undoubtedly MINI. The Oxford-based brand saw sales rise 17.7% to 288,290 cars, driven by a completely refreshed product range. Electric vehicles performed particularly well last year, accounting for more than a third of MINI’s total sales. This is despite the fact that the Cooper (J01) and Aceman (J05) models built in China are not available in North America.
Purely electric vehicles accounted for 18% of all BMW Group sales in 2025. During the year, 442,072 cars without combustion engines were delivered, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2024. Including plug-in hybrids, sales of electrified vehicles rose to 642,087 units, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous year. PHEVs and electric vehicles accounted for 26% of total deliveries, meaning more than one in four cars sold were electrified.

While BMW and MINI grew by 7.3% in Europe and by 5% in the USA, the downward trend continued in China. The two brands posted a 12.5% decline in the world’s largest car market, delivering 625,527 vehicles. It remains to be seen whether China-specific New Class models will be enough to reverse the decline.
2025 was not a year BMW Motorrad wants to remember. Sales of motorcycles and scooters fell by 3.7% to 202,563 units.
BMW is looking forward to a strong 2026 and has once again confirmed that the next generation of the 3 Series and X5 will be released later this year. In addition, the i3 electric sedan and a revised 7 Series are scheduled to come onto the market in the coming months.
