Almost a week after he has performed softly on the Dutch website of BMW, the i4 M60 is now officially. The best -selling car of the M Division for three years is running a new name. The i4 M50 comes aside for an updated M -Performance version with an additional power of 56 hp. His dual engine setup now delivers 593 hp and at the same time holds the torque of 586 LB-FT (795 Nm).

Thanks to the additional electrical punch, the new i4 M60 accelerates from 0 to 62 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. That is two tenths faster than the outgoing i4 M50 and the 3.5-second sprint of the M3 competition XDRIVE. BMW lists a WLTP range from 433 to 551 kilometers (268 to 342 miles), which is both an improvement and a disadvantage. While the new model offers a higher maximum area, the previous i4 M50 had a better minimum range. Both use the same 81.1 kWh battery.

BMW lists the i4 M60 XDrive on its German website from € 72,900. Add every conceivable option and look at six numbers. Production for the European market begins in July. As usual, the US version will follow later, but should not be far behind, as is expected for the 2026 model year. After what we have heard, the version for America will come on the assembly line in November.

The name change and the increase in power are a life cycle impulse just over a year after the i4. BMW’s decision to start the i4 M60 relatively late could frustrate some that recently bought the revised i4 M50. Nevertheless, there is rarely a perfect time to buy a car. There is always a newer, better version around the corner. On the other hand, prices continue to rise, so that today’s costs are often the lowest that it will ever be.

How much life remains in the “G26”? The i4 will probably remain in production by mid -2028. At this point, BMW will also set the Gran Coupé from petrol and diesel 4 Series.
