The BMW Z4 M40i has always been more than just a pretty face. With its classic roadster proportions, a silky inline six under the bonnet and a dynamics of the rear wheel drive, it offers one of the purest open open-air driver experiences in the BMW line-up. But for those who long for more excitement, the Swiss tuning company Dahler Competition Line has something special: the upgrade “DCL Dahler Competition Line”-a complete transformation of the G29 Z4 M40i, which brings more electricity, sharper dynamics and unmistakable style.
Now makes up to 455 hp
The European BMW Z4 M40i already contains one blow in storage form. The 3.0-liter B58-inline-Six engine delivers 340 hp and 500 Nm torque, which promises strong acceleration and this characteristic BMW six-cylinder gladden. But Dahler’s upgrades completely write down the technical sheet.
Three stages of performance are available, all with full EU and Swiss homologation and correspond to the Euro 6D Temp emission standards:
- Level 1: 408 PS and 610 Nm
- Level 2: 430 PS and 630 Nm
- Level 3: 455 PS and 650 Nm
In addition to the numbers, there is also more freedom: cars that were built before June 2020 have the top speed limit removed in levels 1 and 2, while level 3 eliminates the VMAX restriction in all years of production. This means that the Z4 M40i can finally extend its legs to full potential.
Breathing easier, sound more common
To supplement the power supply, Dahler offers a number of supportive hardware upgrades. A high-performance sports air filter and an optional carbon fiber intake help the B58 to breathe freely. On the back, a custom-made stainless steel exhaust system built by Dahler offers 90 mm or 100 mm diameter and an available BI-Valve control, so that the exhaust note is tailored to the mood of the driver.
Lower, sharper, faster
Performance is not just about horsepower, so this competition package also contains tailor -made suspension disorders. The simplest option includes lowering springs, which is discontinued by 25 mm at the front and 20 mm at the front and 20 mm in order to obtain a planted posture. For those who are looking for complete control, an optional performance chair suspension enables both the driving altitude and the damping.
Wheels that complete the picture
Visually, the Dahler Z4 M40i makes a powerful first impression. The tuners’ forged light metal wheels – in particular the dynamic CDC2 design – are tailored to BMW M -cars and the aggressive aesthetics of the Z4. The CDC1 bikes are also available in fake or cast forms, whereby the cast variant offers the same 21-inch equipment for an even more brave look. Buyers can for:

- 21-inch setup: 9.5 × 21 (front) / 10.5 × 21 (rear)
In order to round off the transformation, Dahler adds a number of motorsport-inspired visual details to the light carbon fiber. There is a front spoiler lip, M-style mirror caps and a rear cover eyelid spoiler. Each piece can be painted in natural carbon finish or to correspond to the body color for a fully integrated appearance.
