When BMW introduced the revised IX at the end of January, the name of the M -Performance version was changed. The IX M60 had to die so that the IX M70 could live, now with an additional power of 40 hp. The improved dual engine setup offers you 650 hp (485 kilowatts). The torque remains unchanged, with a ridiculous 1,015 Newton meter (749 pound foot). Activate the start control and temporarily climb to 1,100 Nm (811 L-L-FT).

A new promo video offers us a foretaste of the acceleration of the IX M70 from a standstill when the start control is switched on. Despite the service drafts, the 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) has not changed compared to the previous M performance model. The hottest IX still needs 3.8 seconds from a standstill. If you take the one-foot rollout method into account, the sprint time falls to 3.5 seconds. The IX M70 is not faster than its predecessor in terms of maximum speed. BMW still sets an electronic limit that is programmed in such a way that it takes 155 km/h (250 km/h).

It is an impressive performance for an electrical SUV that weighs 2,580 kilograms (£ 5,687) in the European specification. However, it remains to be seen how many IX M70 owners will carry out these hard starts because they affect the battery. BMW quotes a significantly improved range and reaches 600 kilometers (379 miles) in the WLTP cycle. The old M performance model made 561 kilometers (349 miles) on a single load. In real tests, it was shown that BMW’s electric cars usually offer a greater range than the manufacturer’s estimate.

Once again, a high-fat M version will not happen. The role of the first true M eV has already been assigned to the new class I3, unless the NK IX3 in M Guise comes out first.

The production of the revised IX begins in Dingolfing this month. The deliveries will follow in the second quarter of 2025. The model, which internally with the code name “i20”, will be retired in mid -2028. His place in the line -up could be taken by the unconfirmed IX5 based on the next generation X5 (“G65”).
