BMW has tried to spice up its M performance models to better distinguish them from the regular versions. In the first phase, the aggressive mirror design was previously reserved for the MS models from M Lite. It didn’t take long to make quad pipes on the way to the not entirely lying cars. We are now hearing that there may be a third -party improvements in the works.
The Bavarian brand is examining the future M performance models to give characteristic headlights. The shape, position and size are probably not changing, since this would require costly modifications for hood and front fenders. Instead, designers update the inner headlight design to distinguish the hotter version from its lower siblings. How exactly will that happen? Through “characteristic color duck”, according to a BMW insider that is often published on which Bimmer Post Forums with impressive accuracy.
M Performance versions of the next generation series and X5 will be the way. The SUV will probably come onto the market first, since the “G65” begins an unconfirmed production in August 2026. BMW will supposedly sell the new X5 in petrol M60 XDrive, plug-in hybrid M60E XDrive and Electric M70 XDRIVE arors. The “G50” sedan could come to the assembly line in November of the same year with M350 and M350 XDRIVE derivatives.
So far, only the M350 has been discovered of the above M -performance models. However, the prototypes did not have the final headlights, and the preliminary clusters were mostly hidden under the cladding. We probably have to wait a few more months before BMW mounts the last headlights in the test vehicles and ideally start the Camo Striptease.
A question arises: When BMW changes the headlights of the M performance models, what about the real M cars? A logical explanation is that both types of M-Baded cars share these special accents. It is unclear whether the colored elements in the headlights come in the typical blue, purple and red M colors. That would make sense, but let’s wait and see.
