When the BMW group brought Alpina under the roof of the company three years ago, the existing deal did not change. It is as usual by the end of 2025 and then the niche brand based in Buchloe is raised. The intention is to bridge a supposed gap between the most expensive BMWs and the entry-level roll royce, if there is anything like that. First step? Bring back the B7.
Reports about the return of the B7 have been whirled around for a while. After a reliable insider from the Bimmer Post Forums, the more chic 7 -series alternative comes back. The B7 is said to be based on the G70 facelift, but with a special code name: G72. It indicates that BMW is planning more changes to better distinguish the Alpina model from the regular 7 SER. It will not be the only 7 -series derivative with its own code, since the tank protection model is known internally as a G73.
Instead of a sole Alpina B7 model, the parent company BMW works on three flavors: 740, 760 and i7 70. Yes, a purely electrical model is on the way. Although the company’s CEO, Andreas Bovensiepen, approved in an interview in 2021 that there was no demand for battery models at this point, EVS are inevitable. The special brand cannot ignore stricter emission regulations.
It is unclear whether BMW will revive the name B7 or call the Cars BMW Alpina 740, BMW Alpina 760 and BMW Alpina i7 70. However, the alpinas will definitely command a bonus over the equivalent BMW. In the USA, the 740i begins at $ 97,300 or $ 100,300 for the XDRIVE model. The 760i XDRIVE operated with V8 starts $ 122,400, while the i7 M70 returns $ 168,500. The prices do not contain target and handling fees.
BMW will start production in July 2026 with the production of the 7 Series LCI, but it is unclear whether this coincides with the revival of the Alpina 7 Series. Logic suggests that BMW will only start the Alpina versions after receiving the G70 update with the middle cycle.
Elsewhere, the XD4 and B8 live in the borrowed time. BMW is about to pull the plug in the installation X4 and whole 8. The decision to bring Alpina into the Bentley territory will probably lead to the expense of the smaller models. In 2022, a higher BMW official pointed out to the decline of vehicles of the entry level: “Does it make sense that someone spends an alpina with an amount of 250,000 or 300,000 euros, does a B3 look together at a traffic light?” It could also mean that D3 and B4 do not take long for this world.
