
BMW from North America has issued a security recall for 1,571 vehicles in its BMW and Mini brands, since a potential defect with the retractors of the front seat belt. The recall was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the campaign number 25V616000.

According to the submission of BMW, the torsional rod in both front belts may have been damaged during production. The retractor is the mechanism that blocks and shines the belt during a collision. A damaged part could prevent the belt from keeping passengers properly and increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The fix
According to the BMW, the retailers replace both retractors front seat belts free of charge. The owner notification letters are to be sent on November 7, 2025. On the same date, affected vehicle identification numbers (Vins) can be searched on nhtsa.gov.
