It is not often that BMW goes out a call back so small. The German car manufacturer voluntarily called back only four vehicles – three 2026 BMW M4 models and a 2026 BMW 430i – a potential problem with the positive battery cable connection to the power distribution box.
According to a submission to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the connection between the positive battery cables and the power distribution field “outside the specification” can be. This can lead to the connection lures over time and generates a heat disease. If this is not checked, this can lead to an engine block or – in extreme cases – a fire risk. According to the BMW, all four cars affected will probably experience the defect.
How BMW narrowed on four cars

The internal review of the manufacturer’s production documents has contributed to determining the exact stack of production. The problem only occurred on August 7, 2025 when a 2026 M4 competition was converted converted during a test drive in a BMW assembly plant. The engineers pursued the problem on a loose power distribution box connection and prompted immediate production. By September 18, BMW had decided to carry out a voluntary security recall, although no incidents, injuries or fires had been reported.
The fix is uncomplicated
The owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by post from November 17, 2025. The repair is simple – technicians examine the connection between the positive battery cables and the power distribution box. If an error is found, both parts are replaced free of charge.
Since the recall population is so limited, this is more of a case of BMW that makes caution than against a widespread defect. The ability of the brand to identify such a small group of vehicles shows the accuracy of its traceability systems of manufacturing. Dealer notifications for this recall began on September 25, 2025, and BMW emphasizes that no guarantee or reimbursement claims are required, since the work is completely covered under the new guarantee for the new vehicle restriction.
