BMW will have up to 10 people who work in a dedicated team at the so -called “Center for Special and Individual Lacquer”. The construction work will cover over 2,000 square meters over two levels from the next month. The operations begin in spring 2027. Here, body receives contrast colors and strips of door as well as other custom surfaces. All of these flowers are used by hand in an old -fashioned way.
The first layer of colored color and the final clear paint are still applied during series production. BMW expects the time required to paint a car in an individual color, by 25%, which should also shorten the delivery times. The production costs are expected to fall “noticeably”, although this does not necessarily mean that individual colors of 2027 will be cheaper. A two-color upgrade for a 7 series can currently cost up to € 12,000.
Dingolfing is the busiest European production facility of the BMW Group. The 4 Series Coupé/Cabrio, 5, 7 and 8 are built there with their derivatives. The IX is also produced in this system, which is rumored that it should begin together next year with the compilation of the 3 Series (G50). The next 3 Series could only end as a sedan. Insiders have put doubts about the touring (G51) into production, although nothing is official.
It is worth wondering whether the upgrade of the paint shop is also connected to Alpina. Since the brand based in Buchloe begins its new life under BMWS Corporate rain umbrella in 2026, the rumored model with a facelift-based 7 Series-based model could benefit from tailor-made exterior.
The second generation X7 will also receive treatment with Alpina, although the three-row SUV is installed in Spartanburg. In the meantime, the current Luxobarge has taken over the two -color look for a special special edition in Japan.
