How big is new class for BMW? It is the biggest investment that the company has ever made. CEO Oliver Zipse told Bloomberg These “well over” 10 billion euros have been invested in the past five years. As you can imagine, new class extends far beyond the IX3 from 2026, which was unveiled yesterday. The electric crossover is only the tip of the iceberg on a product offensive that goes far beyond EVS.
The unprecedented financing not only included vehicle development, but also the electric motors and batteries of the sixth generation of the sixth generation. The iDrive X with panoramic view was not cheap either. In addition, a significant share of expenses in the strengthening of the battery production infrastructure of BMW. Let us not forget that BMW built a brand new factory from scratch for the IX3. The series production of the “NA5” at the Debrecen location in Hungary begins from November.
In the interview, Zipse emphasized that the investment of € 10 billion had already been committed, while BMW remained profitable. Even when the company brought money into the establishment of its future, it would continue to earn money with its existing line -up. The immense work and the financial effort behind the revival of new class will be fully brought to life in just a few years.

By the end of 2027, Zipse, almost the entire list of new class will benefit. At this point, BMW will have launched more than 40 new or updated models. The next generation’s iDrive is introduced to all cars regardless of size or drive train. The 61-year-old manager, who spoke specifically about the IX3, called it the “best overall product in the industry”.
Obviously, a lot goes on the IX3 and the upcoming models, whether electrically or not. BMW is confident that it can harvest the rewards as soon as the new class is set up. The next model is already in the pipeline, whereby the i3 sedan 2026 is planned for the start.
For China, still the largest market of BMW, despite a drop in sales in question, the IX3 is offered in a long -wheel version. The i3 should follow and reflects the current i3-limousine sold there by i3, which was sold there as a stretched 3-series-EV. BMW does more than just the extension of wheel marks for its Chinese -specific products. It designs them locally in the Shanghai Studio design works and works with large Chinese technology companies for in-Car software.
In the meantime, the IX3 will make its public debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich next week. The European market launch is planned for the next spring, followed by the United States in summer. Only the 50 XDRIVE will be available at the start, but a more affordable IX3 40 -Sdrive has already been confirmed and will follow shortly afterwards.
