BMW surprised almost everyone in mid -February when it introduced the driving experience of the vision. Although the company made it clear that the concept would not go into production, we all had the electric M3 in our heads. The time will show whether the VDX will be related to the code name “ZA0” to the code name Electric Super Limousinen. In the meantime, the wild concept is back in new pictures.
It looks just as spectacular as a few months ago, but we notice a subtle change. The Centerlock wheels are now different, although BMW has removed the Aero covers and LEDs. In any case, the alloys have a more regular design with a dual spoke layout that is located within the bulging fenders. The VDX sits near the street and keeps the camouflage, presumably to hide some aero tricks.
The rear angle is by far controversial due to the enormous openings of the bumper. The divided diffuser with an additional panel that is hidden underneath improves the downforce to keep the concept on the street. Compared to the 2023 vision of new class on which it is based, the VDX has a rear spoiler built into the body.
With over 1,300 hp from the barrel, take a look at the strongest car that BMW has ever built. A precise performance of horsepower was not published, but we were told that the engines could provide a combined output of up to 1,700 hp. However, the electrical M3 has less than half, whereby the basic model is expected to deviate around 670 hp. But the engineers work on quad engine EVS, so there will be a time when M sells an electric car with a four-digit power.
The VDX certainly looks unusual, but BMW will probably weaken a few notches for the electric M3. This is probably a better one because the concept has more than a few exaggerated details. Expect that the production car will break through the cover in the second half of 2027.
