BMW Vision Driving Experience (VDX) unveiled without camo

BMW has made it clear that the Vision Driving Experience (VDX) does not enter into production. Nevertheless, we still believe that some of its properties will be on the first complete electric car. Before the gas -free M3 arrives in a few years, the indirect forerunner has finally replaced its camouflage.

We saw the VDX for the first time a few months ago, wrapped in the well-known black and white, swampy camo, which was typically worn by test prototypes. But before his public debut at Autoo Shanghai later this week, BMWblog Had the special opportunity to completely reveal the quad engine EV. This is correct, the Super sedan has four electric motors that deliver a switchable combined output of 1,300 to 1,700 hp.

A more muscular attitude to the 2023 Vision New Class, the VDX has an aggressive body kit with full fenders. Although it is not intended for exhibition rooms, BMW has a towing hook cap and traditional mirrors instead of the side cameras of the concept. The body now grabs additional ventilation slots and recordings and has unusual door handles: Winglets on the B -pillars for the front doors, and the Hofmeister kink serves as a handle for the rear doors.

When the VDX was shown for the first time in February, it had a cabin with bare bones. Now it is a bit more civilized, if still far away, tame. The interior has bucket seats with a racing cable tree and a vertical handbrake in the rally style. This is certainly not a typical family sedan, although this middle screen comes to the production of BMWs. It is part of the new iDrive, which also contains a dashboard wide projection called “Panoramic Vision” with customizable tiles. Between the seats you can see physical test buttons that can usually be found in development vehicles.

While you cannot buy a VDX, the control unit “Heart of Joy” will continue to live in production models. This comprehensive system can process completely faster than current setups and is robust enough to process the amazing 18,000 Newton measuring devices (13,269 pound foot) of the bike torque of the VDX. For reasons of clarity, the astonishing number refers to the wheel -groque.

The electrical M3, the code name “ZA0”, has been outside of this for a few years, has already been tested in the Nürburgring. It will be far more steamed than the VDX, and we dare, it couldn’t be that bad. Some may find the design of the VDX failed, especially the rear. Nevertheless, this wild prototype offers a look into the electrical future of BMW M, which is not based on the combustion. Nevertheless, ice cream cars are not going anywhere. In fact, a new M3 (G84) inline-SIX is driven.
