The Canadian line-up of BMW could soon contain a new plug-in hybrid SUV-not from the us manufacturer’s usual North American source. The latest comments from the CEO of BMW South Africa, Peter van Binsbergen, indicate that the work of the car manufacturer Rosslyn with exporting the BMW X3 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) to Canada, a market that does not currently offer the model. Van Binsbergen’s explanation, which was carried out during a local event, stated that BMW South Africa would occur with the electrified version of its popular medium -sized SUV due to trade voltages and tariffs between the USA and Canada to deliver the Canadian market. But that may have been one step ahead of the official press release.
BMW Canada answers
In response to the explanation, BMW Canada made the situation clear and confirmed that nothing was completed, but the discussions are actually underway. In a statement on BMWblog, a spokesman for the brand said:
“BMW Canada actively examines several ways to ensure constant vehicle supply for its customers and his dealership in a developing global trade landscape. In other words, Canada could be in line to get the X3 PHEV from South Africa – but the plan has not yet extended across internal ratings.
Why is it important
The BMW X3 PHEV is currently not available for sale in Canada, although they have been sold in markets across Europe and the USA. The global role of the Rosslyn plant
The Rosslyn facility of BMW in South Africa is not a newcomer to global exports. Although no final decision has been made, BMW’s willingness to look beyond the US supply chain, as trading guidelines and tariffs change the logistics strategies of car manufacturers. At the moment, Canadian customers cannot enter a dealer and order a X3 PHEV – but based on the tone of South Africa and BMW Canada, which could change soon.
