BMW’s Christmas video transports the new iX3 to a winter wonderland

With Christmas just around the corner, BMW is marking the upcoming holiday season with an interesting POV style video. As expected, the focus is on the most important company launch of the year. The all-new iX3 tackles Austria’s snowy mountain roads in onboard footage shown during both day and night driving.

The 20-minute clip gives a clear impression of what it’s like to drive the first modern model in the New Class. BMW has decided to put an iX3 in the spotlight with perhaps its boldest interior theme: Digital White. While white faux leather upholstery is available at launch, the white steering wheel is not. This option will launch in select markets in January. The first vehicles equipped with this will roll off the production line at the Debrecen plant in Hungary in March.

This iX3 appears in 50 xDrive specification, which is no surprise as it is the only version available at launch. BMW presents the electric crossover in Ocean Wave Blue, equipped with the M Sport package and an illuminated kidney grille. Although the video focuses primarily on the interior, we also noticed the 21-inch M aerodynamic wheels in the 1051 M design.

The night driving segment is particularly exciting as it shows how ambient lighting reshapes the atmosphere in the interior. When switching to Sport mode, the design changes from blue to red. However, the 17.9-inch touchscreen remains the focal point of the interior, complemented by a column-shaped projection at the bottom of the windshield.

The interior is unlike anything BMW has offered before, introducing a striking new layout that will be rolled out in around 40 models by the end of 2027. Earlier this week we saw a prototype of the next-generation iX1 with a similar dashboard design. As the video makes clear, there are hardly any physical buttons anymore, as most of the functions are grouped together in the center display. BMW believes that improved voice control will make the lack of hard buttons easier to accept.

This new interface won’t be exclusive to electric vehicles. The New Class will cover the entire product range, from petrol and diesel models to plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. After the iX3 (NA5), the next vehicles to adopt the radically different layout will be the 3 Series (G50), the i3 (NA0), the X5 (G65) and the revised 7 Series (G70). All are expected to arrive in 2026, a year that could also see the launch of the very first iX4 (NA7).
