The Monterey Car Week is always full of cars and surprises, but only a few have pulled more double visitors this year than the Bovensiepen Zagato. We had the opportunity to see it from the quail, a motorsport meeting, and again on the concept of lawn in Pebble Beach, whereby we had taken a new set of photos of the first American statements of the car.
This is the third time that the Bovensiepen brothers ran after its world premiere at Fuorio Concorso in May and its world premiere in May and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. When we saw it under the Californian sun, however, we gave ourselves a new perspective on the proportions, the details and the way in which Zagatos design interacts with the carbon body.
From Alpina to Bovensiepen Automobile

The acquisition of the name of Alpina by BMW meant that the Bovensiepen family could no longer use the brand that had been built for decades. Instead of stopping, Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen Bovensiepen started automobiles. Her first car developed with Zagato is a coupé with a carbon mouth built on the BMW M4 convertible platform. It marks a clear continuation of the tradition of the family in Buchloe – cars that combine performance improvements with tedious craftsmanship – but under a new name.
Why a convertible base makes sense

Our photos underline the defining feature of the Zagato: the double bubble carbon roof that flows into the rear glass. This design was only possible because the team started with an M4 convertible (G83 LCI) so that they could remove the B-pillar as a whole. From a distance it looks like a tailor -made coupé; Technically speaking, it is a hardtop cabriolet with a completely new body under the skin. Although the original structure is kept from security and homologation, more than 400 new parts have been developed. The carbon skin together with a few light chassis changes about £ 110 compared to the M4 Cabrio M4 Cabrio.
Performance improvements

Under the carbon hood, the Zagato uses the S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six from BMW, which went far beyond the Aktien-M4. A redesigned intake and exhaust system, new turbos and a 22 kg Titan-Akrapovič tax offices on 611 hp and 700 Nm (516 LB-FT). This corresponds to 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed over 186 miles per hour. The suspension vote was treated in Buchloe in cooperation with Bilstein, which led to a custom -made Damptronic setup that offers comfort, sports and sports plus modes.
Longer than a BMW M8 Coupé

The size of the Zagato is clearer near the quail. After almost five meters, it is actually more than a BMW M8 coupé by five centimeters. The headlights from the 4 are partially covered and sit lower and further forward, which gives the car a sharper face. The rear bounces have a more pronounced symbol than the donor car, while Alpina inspired bikes a subtle allusion to the history of the family.
Despite the additional length, it does not feel oversized personally. If at all, the balance of the proportions makes the zagato look closer and targeted than an M4.
Cabin craftsmanship

Inside, for Buchloe: Lavalina leather, it is as usual as usual. The process covers almost every surface and requires 130 hours of working hours, 390 individual cuttings and 1,800 meters of thread. Customers can choose from 16 leather tones, 45 Alcantara options or hire fully tailor -made designs.
The car we photographed on the Pebble Beach showed a brown and begging cabin that was paired with the carbon package, while the como-lake como prototype used a striking blue interior. Both show that the Bovensiepen adaptation area is ready to deliver.
Exclusivity and timeline

Each Bovensiepen Zagato needs over 250 hours of manual assembly, and the annual production is limited to the low hundreds. The homologation for the USA and Japan is still pending, so that the final number is even smaller. The pricing is expected to be between € 400,000 and € 500,000, and the first customer deliveries are planned for mid -2026.
When he saw the Bovensiepato on American soil for the first time, a memory remembered that the family is still the BMW name behind it, while the family continues to build cars in Buchloe. This coupé does not hide its BMW roots, but it is redesigning them -with a full carbon body, a more powerful S58 engine and an interior that does not find a standard on the M4 application sheet.
