BMW produces vehicles all over the world. And while most of our readers are probably aware of some different plants – after all, some have been knowing which models are produced where the most general knowledge is not. Of course, this list could grow and otherwise change if production moves, especially in view of the latest changes in trade policy. It also does not make up for plants. Plant Debrecen is located in Hungary and begins with the production of NEE class X at the end of 2025.

Notes on BMW production systems

A few details: just because a model is listed does not mean that it exports worldwide. For example, most models are made at Rayong, but regional examples that do not make it to the USA. The same applies to Chennai. Similarly, these facilities are also “CKD” (complete knocking) plants, which means that parts are imported and compiled locally from elsewhere. In general, this is done to avoid tariffs. The local governments are considering putting imported parts together “locally”.
The highest production plant in BMW – at least in 2024 – was Spartanburg. The Bavarian car manufacturer produced 396,117 SUVs that were shipped all over the world. Second place goes to the Dadong plant in China, where BMW gathered 343,973 vehicles. Two German plants created the five most important list, Regensburg and Dingolfing, which produced 342,521 and 297,761 units. The list of BMW, TIEXI, is rounded off 284,045 units. The latest facility that is currently operated is San Luis Potosi. The oldest, Munich plant. The latter has been in operation since 1922.
The network of BMW production systems enables you to operate almost every continent with production at home. This not only helps customers get what they (hopefully) have (hopefully) faster and for a little less money out of their pockets, it keeps the production of the car manufacturer flexible.
