Schießbrems: The ultimate “If you know, you know.” The term is really outdated and comes from a small, simple carriage that is used to train horses. Over time, these carriages became popular with hunters and shooters and offered plenty of space to load pistols and other necessities on trips. Ultimately, the term was transferred to automobiles, but the definition is still a bit nebulous. A few details rarely differ. Modern shooting brakes have to combine a sports coupe and estate and be almost universal “gentleman” – read: expensive. BMW has tried more than one of them over the years.
BMW Z2 or Z1 shooting brake concept

The earliest example of a BMW shooting brake – because the 02 touring for our eyes is not entirely formulated – is a concept car based on the BMW Z1. The never produced concept car was a kind of design study for the internal Skunkworks team BMW technology. However, the car came to a design model before the plug was pulled. Oddly enough, this is also the only shooting brake, as can be expressly designed with the off-road use. BMW described it as “off-roadster” and even modeled it with all-terrain tires. The luk design and the rear fender exhibited give it an unmistakable shooting brake look.
BMW M Coupé

Referred to as a “clown shoe”, this is probably a car that does not need an introduction. The M coupé was based on the Z3 of the day and taged a retractable roof against a bulbous hatch. There is an M3 sourcing engine under the bonnet, but the story has more. Like the Z3 m roadster, the M Coupé engines received both E36 and E46 M3. Pre-2001 models received the S50 or S52 engine from the E36 depending on their region. For the short rest of the production cycle of the model, it is borrowed from the E46 M3 instead. Both are excellent to drive and unmistakably cool. The M -Coupé has so far been the only true shooting brake brake that BMW’s has managed to go into production.
BMW Concept Touring Coupé

If you are an enthusiast, the BMW Concept Touring Coupé is probably still burned into your memory. The shooting brake based in Z4 M40i debuted in 2023 at Ville d’Este. Rumors about a production version in circulation; Unfortunately it never came into play. The BMW Concept Touring Coupé is almost the fundamental shooting brake with exclusive painting (sparkling laypersons) and alloy wheels and the motivation of a divine inline-six, the B58. Everything that has ever been missing was a manual gear. While most of the car is tailor -made, there are still some treacherous signs that they look at a Z4. Fortunately, this is not a bad thing: the Z4 is probably one of the best -looking cars that BMW sells today.
New BMW concept -shooting brake?
The reason why they are here is expected that the BMW shooting brake will debut in Ville d’Este in 2025. Details are easy for the vehicle to appear officially, but there is a lot of borrowed from the Skytop Roadster, who debuted last year. With only 50 planned units, the roadster is as limited as possible – so we think that the shooting brake could be just as limited. Like the Skytop, the BMW shooting brake seems to be based on an 8 -seater platform and ranking, which are occupied by similarly desirable and exclusive cars such as the 3.0 -CSL.
