The Chinese models from BMW are more than just about stretching the wheelbase and calling a day. Apart from the additional rear legroom, the elongated limousines and SUVs are usually more luxurious than the standard hiking vehicles. This is with the “G48” – the first X3 that receives the LWB treatment. The largest vehicle in its class has some subtleties that you cannot put on the global model. For example, the rear door cards have surrounding lighting for a cozy atmosphere.
While they could argue that LEDs are nothing more than a gimmick, there are more important improvements over the “G45”. We have learned that the return seat has increased by four degrees for a more relaxed seating position, especially when traveling longer. The “G48” also receives two -color artificial leather (Vengra) upholstery, rear pillows and additional seat cushions.
The Joint Venture of the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) assembles the X3 -long wheelbase in the Lydia plant in Shenyang. It is BMW’s third SUV to get a longer wheelbase after the X1 and X5. In China there have been LWB versions of the 3 and 5 Series for many years. The elongated 2 Series Gran Coupé recently joined the pack as an indirect replacement for the obscure 1 series sedan.
