Mansory’s Rolls-Royce Ghost trades elegance for a racy look

While we wouldn’t necessarily call the Rolls-Royce Ghost discreet, it’s certainly more discreet than the flagship Phantom. That’s just for the standard car, because Mansory’s version is about as flashy as sedans get. With a striking kit, Germany’s wildest tuner once again lives up to its reputation.

Based on the Ghost facelift (aka Series II) introduced just over a year ago, the aftermarket package is an ode to carbon fiber. Mansory claims every panel of the stately sedan has been given a carbon fiber diet. At least that’s how we interpret the company’s statement: “a complete conversion of the body made entirely of carbon fiber.”

However, it could simply mean that only the exposed carbon fiber add-ons are new and the actual bodywork remains as it left the Goodwood factory. Whatever the case, this Rolls-Royce Ghost is exactly what you’d expect from Mansory. The custom kit includes stronger front and rear spoilers as well as enlarged side skirts.

The faux carbon fiber vents on the front fenders are certainly not for everyone, and the same goes for the body add-ons on the sides of the rear bumper. The exhaust’s two tailpipes sit within a redesigned diffuser and flank the newly added vertical lights. Mansory dared to remove the RR logos front and rear in favor of its own emblem. Presumably the Spirit of Ecstasy remains hidden.

The much more aggressive front end design suggests a more powerful V12. Under the impressively long hood lies the same 6.75-liter twin-turbo engine, but now with more oomph. Mansory massages the BMW Group’s venerable “N74” powerhouse to 710 hp and 1,020 Nm (752 lb-ft).

In the standard Ghost Black Badge, the massive twelve-cylinder engine produces 591 hp and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft). The performance increase is due to new turbochargers, an improved exhaust and a remapped ECU. Although there is no mention of performance, the standard car takes four and a half seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h). Mansory states that the top speed limiter can be increased beyond the factory 155 mph (250 km/h).
