Judging according to the spy photos, the 5 series is subjected to the most radical life cycle pulse (LCI) of any 5 in front of it. However, the LCI can be easily delayed. A new report claims that BMW has supposedly pushed the start of production back by four months. Instead of starting in March 2027, the first updated limousines will now roll off the assembly line in July.
This unconfirmed message comes from a regular BMW insider on the Bimmer post Forums. The story has shown “Ynguldyn” is more right than wrong. A delay with four months is not a big setback, but it is reasonable to assume that it will also affect other variants, especially the 5-series touring and both body styles of the M5.
The first spy shots showed the G90 more than the G60. Nevertheless, BMW should first reveal the standard 5 series. Regardless of the variant, all 5 series models take over the new class design language. Early prototypes already show that the cars have a completely redesigned frontend. This new look will reconcile the 5 Series of the next generation in 2026. Under the camouflage there is a revised design that is inspired by the 2023 Vision New Class concept and has a wide kidney grille that is integrated into the headlights.

It is unlikely that the profile of the 5 series series will be subjected to significant changes. Why? Because the redesign of the doors and fenders for refreshing with a medium cycle would be cost -internal. In the back we already see changes to the taillights, although the test vehicle is equipped with a preliminary setup. A light bar with full width would not be surprising, since the concept contained wide rear lights that were shared by the BMW Roundel.
Extensive updates are expected in the cabin. The current infotainment, which is still relatively new, is replaced by iDrive X. BMW revises the dashboard to record a large central screen and the new panoramic view display. This function, essentially a dashboard width at the base of the windshield, includes three solid tiles that replace the conventional instrument cluster. In addition, there are six additional customizable sections on the right. Remarkably, the iDrive rotary button is eliminated together with most conventional checks, although there are not many people left from the start.
As far as the M5 is concerned, its facelifting can arrive in addition to a high -performance derivative, possibly another CS. However, it is unlikely that the competitive sports version will be available at the start. So expect a publication of not earlier than 2028.
