New BMW iX3 receives its first individual paint job: Frozen Space Silver

BMW promised to give the new iX3 the custom exterior treatment and is now keeping that promise. Frozen Space Silver is part of a broader spring update releasing in Europe today. At the same time, the iX3 also receives two additional paint options. We’ve already seen Fire Red on a pre-production prototype, while Eucalyptus Green made its debut in the German configurator today.

This custom Frozen Space Silver finish is already featured on BMW’s website in its home market. As any serious fan of the Rondell knows, “Frozen” is BMW-speak for a matte finish. It’s the first time we’ve seen this type of paint on the New Class iX3. While all regular shades cost €960, choosing this finish will set you back a hefty €2,880. Alpine white remains the only free color.

Our iX3 50 xDrive setup also includes the M Sport Package Pro, which adds even more black accents compared to the standard M Sport setup. It also brings the panoramic sunroof. We opted for the 22-inch individual aerodynamic wheels, codenamed 1053 I, which add another 2,350 euros to the final bill.

While it’s nice that BMW is expanding the customization options, some buyers are still waiting for more extras. With a little patience you can get them, especially the heated rear seats. Production of the iX3 equipped with this option will begin in March, but initially only for customers in Japan and South Korea. Ventilated front seats are also on the way, but not anytime soon.

BMW has also teased M Performance parts for the iX3 50 xDrive, although as usual they are all shown at no additional cost. For even more oomph, you can expect the iX3 M60 xDrive to hit the market before the end of the year with over 600 hp. Later in 2027, the X3 M (ZA5) will be at the top of the range, boasting over 800 horsepower from a quad-motor setup.

Meanwhile, the iX3 is expected to spawn two derivatives in the coming months: a long-wheelbase version (NA6) for select markets and a global iX4 (NA7) with a sharply sloping roofline. The former has already been teased, while the latter has been spotted by car paparazzi in its sleek production body, suggesting both are closer than you might think.
