As much as we like the new M2 CS in Brooklyn Gray, a limited BMW Special Edition deserves a special color finish. Fortunately, the improved G87 has an optional individual color. This weekend we shot the new competition in Velvet Blue in the Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este. Like the other car in the press shots, it was on matt golden bronze wheels.
Since the second generation M2 at the end of 2022, BMW has been criticized for its limited paint options. The company partially addressed this last year by adding several new shades as part of the M departmental circuit impulse (LCI). For the CS, Velvet Blue extends the color palette. The brave finish creates an even stronger contrast to the striking wheels. Although prototypes were observed with various black alloys, only the golden bronze 827m set has been confirmed so far. BMW will drop all the details about the M2 CS on Tuesday evening.

Apart from paint options, the most striking feature is undoubtedly the large duck tail spoiler. It stands out more than expected, probably because camouflaged prototypes did a good job to hide its considerable size. The red contour of the M2 -CS badge should now be known, but one element is particularly lacking.
In contrast to previous CS bathroom models, the M2 CS skipped the yellow day running light. We suspected that this would be the case, since all test vehicles contained white DRLs instead. We are still trying to find out why. This function helped the M3 CS and M4 CS to further differ from regular variants, so that some fans will probably be disappointed with the omission.

Consideration was expressed by prices carried out. BMW has not yet confirmed it, but the rumor is that the M2 CS in the USA will cost 99,775 US dollars. This figure only applies if you choose standard colors such as Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Gray or Portimao Blue. The selection of Velvet Blue costs an additional $ 3,600 and pushes the car into six-digit areas. The carbon ceramico brake package is even more expensive at $ 8,500.
The story has taught us that European pricing will be even higher and that the arrival of the € 100,000+ m2 signals. In Germany you can already spend six figures for a fully loaded M2, which is equipped with M parts. The XDrive version, which is due next year, will undoubtedly command another premium. And if BMW finally glows a M2 -CSL green, the price awaits you.
