The Bovensiepen Zagato is a BMW M4 of the Alpina brothers

To our surprise, the Speedtop is not the only BMW coach who will debut this weekend at Concorso d’Elegeganza Villa d’Este. It may not be the round, but this new performance coupé is clearly an M4 with a beautiful body written by Zagato. Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, sons of the late Alpina founder Burkard Bovensiepen, have created a new company with the family name. It is not surprising that it is also based in Buchloe, where the latest member of the BMW Group calls home.

Based on the M4 facelift on the market last year, the Bovensiepen Zagato has a tailor-made body with the typical double bubble roof of the Italian design house. BMW’s striking kidneys are over, replaced by a more subtle stainless steel grill. The black honeycomb pattern is repeated in large aerial photographs. While the M4 silhouette is immediately familiar, the body boards are all new and most are made of carbon fiber.

Even the trunk lid was redesigned to absorb a subtle ducktail spoiler, which is far less noticeable than that on the M2 CS, which was also presented on the banks of the Como Lake. The overall styling is tends to be a noble Grand Tourer than an aggressive coupé. The ability to push the windows of the rear side and the lack of B-pillars indicate that the Bovensiepen Zagato is based on the M4-Cabrio (G83), but instead with a fixed roof.

While the exterior stretches from its BMW roots, the cabin is still shouting M4. Although the interior is largely transferred, Bovensiepen spends over 130 hours with every car to install the complete Lavalina leather. Customers can choose from dozens of leather colors and combine with Alcantara. The vehicle takes a total of 250 hours and comprises more than 400 tailor -made parts. The rear bank increases our opinion that the car is based on the G83.

At this point, you are probably wondering what it takes. The Bovensiepen Zagato uses a 3.0-liter inline-Six engine, probably the twin turbo S58 from the M4. However, it was discontinued here to produce 602 hp. This is an increase of 79 hp compared to the M4 convertible. Torque increases by 50 Nm (37 LB-FT) to 700 Nm (516 LB-FT) compared to the standard model. Since the donor car is probably the G83, the new coupé comes exclusively with all -wheel drive. In a broader sense, it is only available with an automatic transmission.

For the performance it sprints from 0 to 62 km/h (100 km/h) in just 3.3 seconds, four tenths faster than the G83. It leads at over 186 km/h (300 km/h) and weighs 1,875 kilograms (£ 4.134), similar to the droptop M4. In addition to its new body and its improved engine, the Bovensiepen Zagato has tailor-made 20-inch-forged wheels, Bilstein dampers and an Akrapovic emissary system.

Bovensiepen will announce price details and production numbers in the fourth quarter of the year. We imagine that it will be much more expensive than an M4 convertible that starts in Germany at € 112,700. Deliveries begin in the second quarter of 2026. While Alpina offers the B4 GT and D4 S, both are only sold as Gran coupes. The newcomer will not compete directly with these models, especially in view of his higher price points.
