Although it was open for a few days, the pulling of the BMW concept Speedtop has probably still caused one or two gasps. Drive strands and basics remain largely the same between the two, and the BMW concept Speedtop clearly borrows some information from the closely related skytop. But there is a lot that is different. If we place the two side by side, we can see exactly what the shooting brake does differently.
Preliminary and side comparison

The front bumpers both the Skytop and the Speedtop are identical – not perceptible changes here. The same applies to lighting. The side mirrors of the Skytop production seem to be more “m -Formated” than the speedtop – note the small aerodynamic NUBs on the vicinity of the mirror, which points to the vehicle. However, the Skytop concept vehicle had the same as Speedtop. So it is possible that the production run of the Speedtop changes.

Some small improvements are obvious alongside the cars. On the one hand, the speedtop has a wider Hofmeister -Knick. Which makes sense because the speedtop has a fixed roof. The 14-spoke wheels of the BMW Concept Speedtop are also unique for the model. They are a bit more sporty than the 12-spoke alloys on the skytop. There is also a smaller gap between fenders and wheels, but we are not sure whether this is due to changes in the use geometry or not. As a result of some obvious changes and some very subtle improvements, the two look a little different.
Review and roof comparison

The skytop and speedtop have identical deck lids and lighting around, with suitable dual exhaust tips punch out the back. For obvious reasons, the speedtop advertises with a roof spoiler that is missing from the skytop. The actions piece, which rises from the middle of the rear of the skytop, is clearly referred to the Speedtop in the BMW concept. The roof is sharply participated in a kind of “double bubble” SEOKS. In fact, the line of both cars runs back from the bonnet.
Inner

Both BMWs receive iDrive 7 and a smaller, divided screen setup, which we miss very much from some production models. Upholstery in the BMW concept Speedtop is a two-tone brown and white, which differs from the single-colored brown that we saw in the Skytop concept. The Speedtop concept optes for white – a brave choice – for the flooring, door cards, seats and the lower half of the center console. The speedtop also has cool accent lighting in the roof split design. It is probably a matter of course, but the speedtop has a little more cabin room behind the driver and the front driver than the open top model. The trunk and tailor-made warehouse areas covered with leather, which were designed for specific, tapping leather luggage, are also unique for speedtop.
The last difference? BMW offered Skytop in a limited production of only 50 units. The speedtop lists this tradition, somehow. BMW assumes that you can sell a few more because 70 Speedtops leave the production line. Surprisingly, we are not on the list and we feel that BMW has already sold everyone. So if they were not on the list either, it is probably too late.
