The 2025 BMW M5 becomes louder and lighter with Akrapovic

Car enthusiasts in Europe live frustrating times, and things are getting worse. Emissions and noise regulations force the car manufacturers to weaken the delivery systems of their performance cars, which leads to annoyingly steamed soundtracks. Fortunately, the Aftermarket scene is ready to save the day. A typical example: Akrapovic is ready to unlock decibels from the new M5 from BMW.

The titanium exhaust is available for both the G90 sedan and the G99 car and brings with it a noticeable increase in the noise. But there is more than just the M5 duo a common sound. Compared to the standard setup from BMW, it lowers the weight by 13.4 pounds or almost 32%. Sure, this is a drop in the bucket because the cars are heavy, but every cut fat is welcome.

Akrapovic brought the M5 development car to a dyno and the results were decent. The 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo provided an additional performance of 5.2 kW and 24.3 Nm (17.9 LB-FT) at 2,050 rpm. As refresher, the S68 577 hp at 5,600 rpm and 750 Nm (553 LB-FT) produces at 1,800 rpm in typical BMW-way. It is unlikely that you will notice the additional omp, but it is a side effect that we will be happy to take with us.

The installation of the new setup takes about four hours and requires cutting the inventory exhaust gas. Akrapovic notes that it has developed a plug-and-play installation, which eliminates the need for a new assignment. A hardcore evolution exhaust adds 11.4 hp and 15.6 Nm (11.5 lb-f), while 19.6 kg (£ 43.2) or almost 73%are cut. However, this stronger setup is not certified for road traffic.

The owners can combine the new street legal exhaust with hexagonal or cylindrical tips in carbon fibers. The tailpipes have acoustic reflectors that distract part of the external sound to the cabin. Akrapovic has also developed a new carbon fiber rear diffuser to supplement the exhaust while the OEM -split layout maintains. In addition, an optional sound kit enables the drivers to control the valve actuators out of the car.

The first rear lip range from Akrapovič is not to be done with the exhaust and is a new carbon fiber spoiler with a high gloss. Of course, it is only compatible with the sedan. Alternatively, BMW offers a variety of M parts of power for both body styles.
