We have just caught the next generation of the next generation from inside and outside, but ideally BMW would like to sell you the current model today. In Australia, it tries to lure customers by treating the “G05” of the special edition. The goal of the first gas SUV in the era of the reborn new class can hardly wait for the “G65” to arrive towards the end of next year.
The somewhat surprising turn is the decision of BMW Australia to support the Shadow Edition on a diesel X5. Instead of using the XDRIVE40I or Hot M60i operated by petrol, the company only offers a diesel-xdrive30d. The luxury SUV is also available as an XDRIVE50-plug-in hybrid or the flagship x5 m. This special diesel variant bundles a long list of standard equipment, including the M sports package.
For the first time in Australia, the X5 receives these stylish 21-inch 915 m-two tone wheels. Buyers can choose from three standard colors: mineral white, black sapphire or M carbon black. Dravit Gray is also available via the individual catalog without additional costs. Regardless of the color, the Shadow Edition has red brake calipers and a shadow line treatment for the headlights and the body. True to his name, it also receives privacy.

Official inner pictures have not yet been published, but we know that the headliner in Alcantara is wrapped with an anthracite finish. The cabin also has carbon fiber cladding and the processed clarity package. The latter is the marketing of BMW for crystal-like accents for some switching plants, including the iDrive controller. A Harman Kardon surround sound system from 16 speakers completes the list of upgrades.
BMW Australia revealed the Shadow Edition at 146,900 AUD before costs on the street element. This is a 9,300 AUD bonus compared to the standard model. The X5 follows in the footsteps of other Shadow Edition models that were previously introduced locally, including the 37 Series, the 2019 1 series and the 2020 X7. And it will probably not be the last X5 of special edition, since the fourth generation model remains in production for another year.
Spy shots emphatically indicate that the next generation X5 looks significantly different from both inside and inside. If the design and the tech of the new class do not fit their taste, it is still enough time to grab the current model.
