The BMW M240i Carbon Edition is only for Mexico

BMW always strives to talk about the M2, but what about the smaller M240i? The car, which is not entirely, finally gets some attention, if only in Mexico. The 2 Series “G42” is built exclusively in the San Luis Potosi Factory and dissolves a limited carbon edition based on the M240i XDrive. Similar to Europe, the M Performance 2 series in Mexico is offered strictly with all-wheel drive. Fortunately, BMW keeps the formula in the rear wheel drive alive in the United States.

As the name suggests, the Carbon Edition brings a selection of carbon fiber reinforced plastic browsing (CFRP). The treatment even extends to the kidney grille, a rare visual upgrade for the M240i. CO2 upgrades include the usual suspects: a front splinter, side mirror caps, a rear diffuser and a spoiler for trunk lid. Beyond the light add-ons, BMW Mexico sweetens the pot with 19-inch wheels in 893 m design, which are not available on the regular M240i.

As expected, the Carbon Makeover continues inside, with the trim pieces on the dashboard and on the center console. The only way to get more carbon fiber in a series of 2 is to update the full M2 and tick the field for optional bucket seats. However, you cannot get a M2 with a manual in Mexico. Nevertheless, a limited 30 -year edition with a stick layer was offered in Mexico. As elsewhere, the M240i only remains an eight-speed steptronic affair.

There are no changes under the bonnet where the B58 engine continues to call at home. The 3.0-liter inline-Six Turboch delivers 382 hp and 500 Nm torque (369 LB-FT). With all -wheel drive and start control, the M240i sprinkles to 62 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Flat, it hits an electronically limited 155 km/h (250 km/h).

BMW Mexico calculates 1,429,900 MXN ($ 76,600), a premium of 160,000 MXN ($ 8,500) compared to the standard M240i XDrive. Despite the price of the price, the Carbon Edition remains significantly cheaper than the M2, which begins at 1,764,900 MXN (95,000 US dollars), so that the two probably do not compete directly.

What does the future have for this car in stock? According to reports, the M240i will switch to the B58TÜ2 engine in Europe with the production from November 2025. The US cars are expected to follow from August 2026 according to the example. BMW is expected to produce the “G42” series series until the second half of 2029, so that a lot of time for more exclusive special editions in the region.
