Not to go long until the second generation IX3 covers. Before its world premiere in September, BMW offers a closer look at its brand new electrical frequency. After a media event in Miramas, some of the missing parts of the puzzle are now collapsing. Journalists, including BMWblogwere invited to the test facility in southern France to try a pre -production prototype.
Although a large part of the interior remains under closure, several key elements are visible. The focus is on the revised infotainment system from BMW with a large rhomboid touchscreen. It uses matrix backlight and is visibly larger than the 14.9-inch display in current models. BMW has not announced its exact size, but as a reference, the vision NEE class X of the last year, which the IX3 preview was included in the preview, has recorded a 17.9-inch screen.

There is no longer an instrument cluster in front of the driver. His role was replaced by the panoramic view vision, a display that was projected over the entire width of the windshield. It contains three solid tiles on the left that replace the conventional driver display and six configurable widgets on the right. Front occupants can personalize what is shown with the large tablet.
While the driver does not give a separate screen, BMW offers an optional 3D head-up display that is positioned in the driver’s line of sight. Do you still note something that is missing? The IDRIVE controller is gone. BMW has already explained its distance with little use. But there is more than that. Many native apps are mainly developed for touch, and also for third -party third -party apps are also not optimized for the physical dial.

Then there is the steering wheel. It is smaller than usual, and BMW finds that it is the most important haptic surface for the manoramic view and the 3D head-up display. The keys only illuminate when functions are available and are arranged in a relief -like structure with active haptic feedback.
The continuous advance of BMW on minimalism has postponed all climate and ventilation controls in the touchscreen. The gear slide is gone together with the start/stop button. Wait, how do you control the IX3? Simply close the door, fasten your seat belt and press the brake pedal. If you believe that current models have only a few physical controls, wait until the era of the new class begins.
The IX3 begins later this year when the production in the new BMW factory in Debrecen, Hungary, begins. An i3 sedan will follow the work in Munich in Germany in 2026, with at least four other electric vehicles planned by 2028. A long-term base IX3 has already been confirmed in China, and a stretched i3 sedan is also in the works.
