Let’s be honest for a moment. It is difficult for a car manufacturer to inspire people with a new electric frequency crossover. After all, the segment is already overcrowded, so that an X -Teures model usually doesn’t attract much attention. However, there are exceptions. The new IX3 (NA5) is more than just a sequence of the aging G08. It introduces a fresh design language, motors and batteries of the next generation as well as a new in-car technology.
For these reasons, BMW is entitled to reduce the second generation IX3. We will see the highly expected electric crossover on September 5 at the IAA mobility show. But when is it actually offered for sale? CEO Oliver Zipse stated this week during the profit that the EV will celebrate its market launch in early November. The Head Honcho in Bavaria is confident that the NA5 will be a commercial success:
“There will be a significant market demand because this car will be the yardstick of the industry at this point. And that is whoever we speak, whatever is written about the car, which is reflected on what is reflected by the media and journalists. We are very optimistic about the market success of the IX3, but also the subsequent cars – the IX3 and the other cars that happened afterwards.”

Zipse went so far that journalists who had the opportunity to drive prototypes called the new IX3 as the “masterpiece of engineering”. So far, only the i3 has been confirmed with regard to the additional new class models. The type sign will return in a limousine next year to be manufactured in Munich. The assembly line will not share the IX3. The SUV will be compiled in the new BMW DEBRECEN factory in Hungary.
Both models receive long -wheeling treatment in China, where the extended i3 (Na8) and IX3 (Na6) are produced. BMW has promised at least six new class EVS, without revealing its identity. If reports are correct, there will be an i3 Touring (NA1) and an IX4 (Na7). Perhaps the German luxury brand counts the electrical IX5 (G65) and IX7 (G67) as a new class models, since both will benefit from the new functions in one month on the IX3.
During his speech after the results of the half-year, Oliver Zipse confirmed that the BMW Group will start 40 or updated cars with new class know-how by the end of 2027. NK is not just about electric vehicles, since the cars with combustion engines also receive the new design, the Idrive X, the Panoramic Vision and the closest head-up head image display.
The next few years will be the busiest in the 109-year history of BMW, which were launched by the IX3 after the greatest investment in the history of the company.
