The Q9 from Audi aims on BMW X7 with a fat new flagship SUV

Audi is preparing to ask the dominance of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover in the luxurious SUV segment with the upcoming start of his most ambitious model of brand new Audi Q9-in. The Q9 as a flagship supply vehicle offers three seats and a design that is tailored to the requirements of high-end markets such as the USA, China and the Middle East.

The Audi Q9, which sits above the existing Q7, will have a similar design, but with a longer, upright body that takes up a real space for adults in all three rows. A configuration with six seats with Captain’s Chairs is also offered, just like the BMW X7 offers.

Structure on the VW Premium Platform Combusion (PPC)

The underpinning of the Audi Q9 will probably be an extended version of the Premium platform burning of the Volkswagen Group (PPC), which supports longitudinal engine layouts and can absorb a wide range of drive lines-from a 2.0-liter turbo-charged four-cylinder with high performance V8. The sportier SQ9 variant has already been tested and has wider fenders, large wheels (up to 23 inches) and the typical quad exhaustless. This model is tilted to obtain a V8 engine with hybrid technology to ensure compliance with global emission standards.

Spy photos show Q9 prototypes with slim, shared LED headlights, an enlarged honeycomb grille and a tail light beams with full width reminded of the new A6 Avant. Traditional door handles can be replaced by subtle touch -activated NUBs near the window line.

Inside, the Q9 is expected to increase the bar for the luxury and the technology of the interior in the Audi list. A newly designed dashboard contains the latest dual screen mmmi interface from Audi with an optional passenger display.

Probably come in 2027

Audi has not officially confirmed the start -time strip of the Q9, but industry sources indicate that a unveiling could take place at the end of 2026 with the availability of the market in early 2027. The arrival of the Q9 coincides with a strategic shift at Audi, as it repeats the schedule for the exhibition of internal combustion engines. While the official goal remains in 2032, CEO Gernot Döllner recently indicated that the brand re -evaluated its ice cream map due to the further developed global market requirements.
