In order not to overshadow the South Korean core brand BMW with its four special editions, MINI has brought its own limited model onto the market. This colorful “F66” celebrates two decades since the brand’s establishment in the East Asian country. Based on the top-of-the-range John Cooper Works model, it is available in Indigo Sunset Blue. It’s actually the first time this color has been offered locally on a JCW model.

The special edition has the addition “Authentix” and is characterized by contrasting red mirror caps and roof. It’s easy to see why MINI chose this color combination as it was intended to reflect the colors of the South Korean flag. There are several unique details that set it apart from a regular JCW, such as a retro-inspired “20” graphic along the lower half of the profile.

The two-tone theme continues with a special logo on the rear pillar and tire valve caps, while the wheel hubs transition from red to blue. Red and white stripes across the blue hood also refer to Taegeukgi, South Korea’s national flag.

As expected, there are no mechanical upgrades. The JCW retains the proven B48 engine. It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 228 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm). Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission from Getrag. That’s enough for a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

MINI will only produce 60 units, each priced at 57.1 million won (US$39,800). Like the aforementioned BMWs, the JCW Authentix is available exclusively through the brand’s online sales platform in South Korea. Buyers will also receive several perks, including a keychain with an embossed “20” logo, a “MINI 20” plaque and a commemorative sticker.
