Updated BMW XM debut in June with a simplified list

The XM may not be the commercial success that BMW had hoped for, but Bayern do not yet give up their wild SUV. Sources near Munich tell us that smaller updates will be introduced next month. Although it is not a complete life cycle -impulse (LCI), the dedicated M model receives several changes.

BMW plans to add body colors, bike designs and new upholstery decisions. However, the body panels, headlights, taillights and steering wheel of the XM remain unchanged for the 2026 model year. In contrast to the new adaptation options, BMW simplifies the line-up: the 644 hp version is retired worldwide.

The XM is only continued as a label model in the USA. European buyers can also order the smaller XM 50E with an inline six. A price reduction for the European Market XM is reportedly in the works, although it is unclear whether it applies to both the 50e and the label or only one of the two. As a reference, the basic model currently begins at € 132,400 in Germany, while the label has astonishing € 203,000.

A missing piece of the puzzle is whether BMW USA is planning to reduce the price of the XM label. However, large discounts are already available. For 2025 it starts at 187,625 US dollars in front of options, although individual colors are contained free of charge. The only add-ons are the 2,500-meter driver package and a $ 3,400 Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

A real LCI is not in the cards for the XM, and the model may be a one-and-done matter. Although earlier reports have been indicated to a fully electrical second generation, this now seems increasingly unlikely. Instead, BMW focuses on the development of IX5, IX6 and IX7 as well as Alpina versions of the latter. Yes, a full electrical alpina comes. The latest member of the BMW Group is also to start V8 versions of the next X7, which further reduces the need for a second generation XM.

The XM develops into a niche curiosity in the history of BMW, similar to the Gran Turismo models of the 3 Series and the 5 Series. This means that the larger of the two GTS considered a second generation as a 6 -seater Gran Turismo. Even the 2 Series Active Tourer had a successor, although his days seem.
