We recently heard that M5 Touring orders exceeded the most expectations. This is great, but probably not the most interesting part of the story. In a recent chat with BMW M boss Frank van Meel, we learned that the wild popularity of the M5 Touring might be a bit more regional than you may think. And in view of the historical aversion of the brand against the range of cool cars in the States, the separation could be somewhat surprising.
M5 Touring Leads in US orders, but not everywhere

BMW set cars on the US market some time ago, and perhaps absence will grow her heart. In a short lecture with press in the 2025 Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este, Van Meel continued to praise the success of the G90 M5. “We have a very, very high demand for the new M5.” If the demand is seen, it does not work. It is really a tightening of the markets for the M5. “This itself is not all riveting – in March we learned from Sylvia Neubauer that the M5 demand exceeded expectations.
But what we not Learn from Neubauer that the USA actually led the indictment on the tour demand. When asked whether BMW sold more touring or limousine models of the high-performance sedan, Van Meels’s answer was surprising. “Well, actually in Europe, even more limousine as a tour,” he said. “We are reversed. We currently have a higher demand in the USA for tour than for the limousine.” According to Frank, the M5 demand is only divided between the two body styles worldwide.
Why M5 Touring Sales Matter

We speculate, but we believe that at least part of the reason why the M5 touring in the United States is disproportionately popular is the attraction of forbidden fruits. This is perfectly fine for us, since BMW spokesman has already recognized more or less that the M5 touring is a bit like a litmus test for whether the brand will bring wagon models back to the US coast in a wider size. Remember in the same chat with Neubauer she said the current M3 Touring did not come to the United States -and that those who are interested in a BMW car buy the M5 touring and tell the dealers the next time we ask the question that they say that “Thumbs are high, we want an M3 touring.
Other factors also work here. On the one hand, Mercedes will not sell you a car at the M5 tour level in the USA. At least not for now. The same applies to Audi – RS6 Avant Production approaches its end and is mainly against the model that was offered for sale about five years ago. Regardless of this, we are glad that our well-resistant voters in the USA pose for the M5 tour. It means that we could In the future, get a shot on another, lower car.
