The closest most people get to seeing a GT3 car is watching them fly by at Spa or Bathurst. But this October, one lucky bidder will have the chance to own the original – the very BMW M4 GT3 that Valentino Rossi and Team WRT raced across Europe and beyond. On October 18, 2025, BMW M Motorsport will be auctioning off the #46 BMW M4 GT3 by Valentino Rossi, a car with real race-winning pedigree, as part of RM Sotheby’s prestigious Munich auction.
A dream machine with a proven track record
Chassis 22-046 isn’t just another GT3 car – it’s one with history. This machine was driven by Valentino Rossi, Maxime Martin, Augusto Farfus, Charles Weerts, Raffaele Marciello and Ahmad Al-Harthy and took part in some of the toughest endurance racing in the world. His record includes 27 races in the GT World Challenge Europe, the Intercontinental GT Challenge and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Highlights include a win at the Road to Le Mans, a Sprint Cup win at Misano, a class podium at Imola and an impressive 2nd place overall at the 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour – the final race. This Bathurst result capped a hard-fought career and secured a memorable one-two for Team WRT.
Preserved in end-of-race condition

Unlike typical race cars that have been restored to immaculate condition, this M4 GT3 wears its battle scars with pride. Every rock chip, every tire mark, every speck of brake dust and every splatter of tar is still left from his last trip to Mount Panorama. To preserve this authenticity, BMW Art Car legend Walter Maurer covered the entire body with a special matt clear coat and added his signature alongside those of Rossi, Marciello and Weerts.
The striking neon yellow paint and the number 46 make the car immediately recognizable to Rossi fans. Beneath the surface is the race-proven P58 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, paired with a six-speed sequential transmission and a chassis tuned through years of racing experience.
A rare opportunity for collectors
Lot No. 138, offered directly by BMW M Motorsport, carries an estimate of 435,000 to 485,000 euros, a figure that corresponds to the performance of the vehicle and also its origin. By comparison, the limited-edition BMW M4 CS VR46 Edition – a street-legal tribute to Rossi’s racing legacy – sold out immediately, making this GT3 the only way to own a real Rossi-powered BMW.
The sale will take place at Motorworld Munich and marks RM Sotheby’s fourth Munich auction. For collectors, BMW enthusiasts and Rossi fans alike, it represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a genuine piece of modern racing history – anchored in time and still marked by the dust of Bathurst.
