All -wheel drive. Well over 500 hp from a twin turbo engine. Second -door coupé. On paper, the BMW M4 CS and M8 competition sounds like an ideal duo. And perfect for a nail construction animal of a drag race, right? Apparently the boys over Carwow thought the same thing. Mat Watson sets the M4 CS with the largest and the most evil M-Coupé that you can buy to see that will come at the top in a series of drag & R races of the quarter mile.

The same, but very different

Carwow Starts with the raw specifications of these two monsters. The M4 CS is a track-off version of the regular M4, which appeals to a little additional force and a number of other small improvements that emphasize lightness and mobility. At 1760 kg (£ 3888) it is still hardly a light weight. If it moves all of this mass, a two turbocharged S58 engine under the bonnet is 550 hp and 65 Nm (543 hp and £ 479 pound on the US market). The M8 competition sets even larger numbers. Its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is 625 hp and 725 Nm (617 hp and £ 553 pound of torque for US cars). Curb weight, Carwow says balloons until 1975 kg (£ 4354), which makes it much more difficult than the M4 CS. Understandably, of course. Both cars have an all -wheel drive and an eight -speed automatic. The M8 has more power, but more weight. It is the perfect storm.

As it turns out, it is not always better. The M4 CS Rockets from the M8 competition away, directly on the line. In a second race, the two competitors initially run an even closer race, but ultimately the M8 is not the Lightning Quick-M4-CS. But can the M4 CS of a Rolling start remain dominant? One would think that the additional power in this scenario could help more, but they have to watch to see exactly how the epic struggle ends.

Is the M4 CS a fraudster?

Towards the end of the video, Mat Watson suggests that BMW has greatly underestimated the M4 -CS performance figures. And although we have no evidence – at least not according to the literal Hundreds From owners who sent their car to dynamometers after buying to find only electricity in the tires, the BMW quotes for the crank – but we believe that it could be something. In both cases, both the M4 CS and the M8 competition are exceptional. Especially when you consider that their best quarter miles were absolutely dead for the day Ripping 10.8 seconds.
